Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Do you have a favorite card style or design? Many of my handmade card projects contain watercolor and also some sort of a technique. Today’s project combines two of my favorite styles, a clean and simple design with watercolor smooshing. The image of the lamp post is perfect for a watercolor winter card.

Whisper White Thick card stock: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Soft Sky card stock layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Watercolor Paper panel: 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
Crushed Curry + Basic Black card stock scraps for die cutting

Christmas Pines stamp set
When thumbing through my stamp sets for an image of snow, I remembered how Christmas Pines stamp set has the large background image of falling snow. With both large and small snowflakes, the look of depth is perfect! There are also loads of fonts to choose from for many types of card projects.
How to create a watercolor background
To keep to my clean and simple design, I chose to only add color to a portion of the background. Using the lamp post as a guide, the color was kept to the area to enhance the appearance of light. This helps as a guide of where I need to keep the coloring and it also adds a bit of interest around the watercolored area.
There were four colors used to get the gradient look, applied in layers. For a visual demonstration of this project, see the video links below.
