Bird Banter stamp set
By now you must expect me to watercolor any bird that I stamp from the Bird Banter stamp set. That’s a really good assumption! For this project, I went a step further. I’ve had an idea in mind each time I look at this pretty bird. She looks like she is sleeping and needs to be set into a scene with pretty moonlight.
I started the project by painting the bird with tones of blue and purple. I am fond of the silvery blue hues that are cast by moonlight and want to come as close to that look as possible. Speaking of moonlight, I chose to let her backdrop be a circle of the Myths & Magic Glimmer paper, to really set her apart and allow the black stamped lines to show. The florals are a portion of die cut from Detailed Floral Thinlits.
The mottled background is created with the ink smooshing technique. This is done by adding diluted ink to a non-porous surface and dipping the watercolor directly into the ink. It’s a unique and natural look that can work nicely in creating a night sky with a feminine touch. Here is a link to a video I created using this technique on a different project. CLICK HERE
