Hello and thanks for stopping by today! This week the Stamp Ink Paper design team are stamping with a color theme. A color challenge makes it easy to adapt any stamp set to fit the need. Serene Garden is a new Bundle in the upcoming 2018 Annual Stampin’ Up! catalog and it’s wonderful. I really like large stamped images and am taking a moment to create a Serene Garden watercolor.

Serene Garden stamp set
What’s better than a pretty garden scene? Adding a bird? Well, yes, it is! I’m not sure if the bird image in Serene Garden is a dove or not, but I really like it and feel that the gorgeously drawn image is incredibly versatile. The large garden scene is stamped and heat embossed onto watercolor paper. I make it a point to stamp onto the smooth side of the paper, so get a more complete stamped image. The embossed image acts like a barrier to keep the added watercoloring in the area of each image. Watercoloring was new as easy as this!
Watercoloring Embossed Images
With the embossing in place, it’s up to choosing a few colors to fill the images. The colors in this week’s color challenge at SIP work well in this scene. Stampin’ Up!’s new bold purple, Gorgeous Grape, not only gives a deep purple but when diluted, it brings a really nice lighter shade. Using these few degrees of purple, lol, help to bring the look of depth to the floral images.
