Lilypad Lake CAS card | with Video

Hello and thanks for stopping by today! This week the Stamp Ink Paper design team are stamping with a fun theme. A theme challenge makes it easy to adapt any stamp set to fit the need. New stamps are fun to experiment with and also a great opportunity to help teach the concept of building a Lilypad Lake CAS card. The die cuts are simple but adding some dimension  will help them come to life.

Lilypad Lake stamp set

The ideas and projects I’m seeing around using this wonderful stamp set are fantastic! I can not wait to show it to you in the 2018 Annual Catalog. While the stamps are very nice, the framelits dies are phenomenal! Lakeside Framelits are chock full of really cool shapes that allow them to be colored and featured along side stamped or not stamped projects. Today’s project is made of plain white cardstock that has been heat embossed in gold. Using two colors can be difficult to bring the elements together so I’d like to share my tips today. I will be featuring more projects this week as well with the Lilypad Lake Bundle.

Creating Dimension in Clustered Die Cuts

Last week I shared a project that helps to learn one way to build up the look of dimension with die cuts. This project is another great example, but in a totally different way. If you are a cardmaker, you already understand the importance of not adding too many layers of dimension to your project (it will crush down in the envelope when posted). I keep my projects to a maximum of two layers of dimension as a rule, to assure my card is delivered the way it is designed.

The pieces are all put into place to start off. Making sure there are items placed behind other items will help out this look. As seen in the photo, the crane even appears to be walking over the sentiment! Creating the medium sized rectangle was a great way start getting the perspective, then allowing the elements to flow off of this rectangle and over onto the card base.
