Hello and thanks for stopping by today! This week the Stamp Ink Paper design team are stamping with an Ombre’ theme. A theme challenge makes it easy to adapt any stamp set to fit the need. One of my favorite ombre’ combinations is blue, no surprise at all since it’s my favorite color! The best ombre’ blue is a night sky, and it has inspired me in creating an ombre watercolor wash.

Moon Baby stamp set
There’s nothing in this world that pulls on my heartstrings more than a sleeping baby. This baby image from Moon Baby stamp set is a great representation of what my two boys looked like as infants. My children both are brown skinned, so I chose to color the sleeping baby with brown skin tones. Working with the Stampin Blends markers is a great way for me to create a custom skin tone and shading for this little guy.
Creating an Ombre Watercolor Wash
When you leave comments about projects you would like to have me demonstrate, I write them on a little paper pad. Today I am checking one off the list with this demonstration of creating an ombre watercolor wash. Here are my tips for this technique:
Always use Watercolor Paper, as it DOES make a difference.
The best blend happens for me with the wet-on-wet technique. Wet the watercolor paper with the Aqua Painter first, before adding color.
Start with the lightest color and gradually add in the mid tone toward the middle of the paper. Allow a few seconds for the colors to blend and move to the darker area.
If the colors are not intense enough, add more color to one area with same ink pad and a sponge dauber.
