Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Adding an element of color in a black and white design can lend a fun atmosphere to a handmade card. In today’s project, I will share how I create a simple design by bringing in a pop of color and where I’ve found it. You’ll never guess where it originated!

Petal Palette Bundle
For a simple design, I start off with a great set up of matching stamps and dies. Petal Palette stamps and Petals & More Dies are really great for creating an elaborate or simple project. I first chose my stamp for this project and then went on the look out for papers to add. Lots of Labels Thinlits dies is a quick solution to featuring a piece of DSP and I found just the right polka dot paper!
How I use paper scraps
How do you use paper scraps in your studio? I have a catch bin to place anything of a useable size card stock. The DSP scraps go right back into the DSP paper pack and I always save any scraps of foil or glimmer paper. Sometimes when making backgrounds with watercoloring, I make a few with the intention of keeping some in that special bin.
Since I had the black and white color scheme already chosen, it’s off to the bin to search for something I can stamp the cluster of roses. I found a panel that contains ink smooshing left over from my OnStage November swap cards that’s just right! I love the organic look that comes from ink smooshing and find it lends itself well to the roses. The green roses are not completely a natural color but they look fun with the black and white!
