Christmas Quilt Bundle card for #FABFRI120
Thank you, FabFriday DT for choosing my card as a Fab Four Pick!
Christmas Quilt Bundle card
For today’s project, I am making a quilt! Christmas Quilt Bundle may have Christmas in the name but my friends…. it’s going to be used for much more than a Christmas card! If you didn’t already know, I am a quilter and was thrilled to see this new product in the Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up! This week at the Fab Friday Stampin Challenge, they have created a fantastic color challenge to follow along in making your handmade card. Be sure to go over to the page and check out all of the Design Team’s cards this week and if you are up to a challenge…. add a photo of your card as well!

Creating a Quilt Background
Having the tools at hand, ready to go, I set about making my quilt card to NOT be a Christmas Quilt. I’d like to show you exactly how diverse this bundle will be in your own crafting. With the pre-set colors of this cardmaking challenge at FabFri, I created an applique’ styled quilt top as the background panel of my project.
The stamped images are not precisely lined up, and that’s okay. As I learned early on in my quilting journey… if you can not see it from a galloping horse, than it’s good enough 🙂 I was more after getting the handmade look, so I applied the second generation of ink to the paper for a lighter and more faded out shade.
How to Create Hand Dyed Baker’s Twine
The most fun in this project for me is the hand dyed baker’s twine. A crafter will find a way, right?
To create the color of baker’s twine that I needed for this project, I used the stamp pad for ink and an aqua painter to brush it on the Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine. Either grab your Silicone Craft Mat or a piece of scrap paper and coat the string as dark as you’d like. I wanted to make the twine appear hand dyed so I made the twine a variety of shades. It looks more natural, don’t you think? A Mini Glue Dot held the end of the twine in place onto the spool and I wound it up with the darkest color on bottom.
