Not so Spooky Cat Card
This week at theTGIF Challenge, there is a color challenge! The idea is to create with a set of colors and they are Peekaboo Peach, Early Espresso and Soft Sky. This color challenge combo is easy and uncomplicated which will allow for many of us to get our creativity motivated. I used Spooky Cat stamp set to show how versatile it is to make a Halloween card or an all occasion card. After seeing this color challenge, I knew it was going to be all about the owl for me.
This is a great opportunity to create a card with any products you wish while following the idea of a pre set theme. Be sure to go over to the page and check out all of the Design Team’s cards this week and if you are up to a challenge…. add a photo of your card as well!
Color Challenge Card
Spooky Cat stamp set
I have to make a confession. To create this card, I needed to borrow this stamp set from my son. True story! Trip begged for the Cat Punch and the Spooky Cat stamp set and when a 6 year old son asks to get involved in stamping… I could not so no. So, here is his very first stamp set! While not being fond of scary looking images, this stamp set is not so spooky. I chose to stamp the owl with the two-step stamp process. First the owl is stamped and then the greeting that fits in the body area. Isn’t it a cool way to feature the sentiment on a greeting card? Super job, Stampin’ Up!
Ruffled Ribbon Technique
There is a whole lot of subtle about this card and a few things that jump off the paper. The ruffled ribbon strip is definitely on the diving board! To create the Ruffled Ribbon Technique, I used Soft Sky 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbon and a strip of Tear & Tape from Stampin’ Up!. It’s the stickiest stuff in town. Starting from the left edge, lay down a portion of the ribbon directly onto the sticky strip. At the first ruffle mark, stop and place a Mini Glue Dot to the immediate left of the fold. This will allow the ribbon to bend back to the left AND stay in place. I made 5 ruffles for this project but you can make as many as needed to suit your project.
