High Tide stamp set

A lighthouse stamp is very versatile in a cardmaking design. It can be featured in many different ways. For this project, I have chosen to instead feature the sentiment and let the lighthouse be a minor cast member. Keeping the colors muted for everything except the sentiment and light rays is one way to help let the lighthouse stamp not take over the design. Being a layering stamp, or 2-step stamp, this lighthouse image can be created in any color combination imaginable! What a great supply resource!

How to draw attention to the sentiment

Keeping all of the other design elements neutral, allows the sentiment to take the fore front. Using two ink colors in an ombre’ stamped look is another assist to pumping up the dimension and detail. To get the ombre’ or gradient look, I added a light and dark ink shade to a silicone craft mat. Just dabbed the ink pad directly onto the mat! They were right up against one another. Once the lighter shade of ink is on my stamp (from the ink pad) then I dabbed the stamp onto the silicone mat, right in the area where the two ink colors meet, and do a cha-cha dance with the stamp.

Cha-cha-cha! By “dancing the stamp around”, these inks blend where they overlap and give a nice blended look that I can add directly to the paper. I did the same with the light rays and it gives a more natural appearance.
