Thank you Fab Friday DT for choosing this card as a fave!

Simple Watercolor for Cardmaking with Video

For today’s project, I am adding simple watercolor to a card design. This week at the Fab Friday Stampin Challenge, they have created a fantastic sketch to follow along in making your handmade card. Be sure to go over to the page and check out all of the Design Team’s cards this week and if you are up to a challenge…. add a photo of your card as well!

Simple Watercolor for Cardmaking

It’s not as hard as it’s thought to be to add simple watercolor for cardmaking. Working with regular Classic Stampin’ Pads in Stampin’ Up!’s beautiful array of colors can make things easy and convenient. Starting with watercolor paper, stamping an image with a standard stamp pad will allow the ink a few minutes to be moved around the paper before it dries. An Aquapainter is a perfect tool to get things moving.

For a visual demonstration on how I created this project, check out the video demonstration link below.

Designing a card to fit a sketch challenge

Having a design in mind before starting a project can make things easy to imagine being competed. The bear image in A Little Wild stamp set fit perfectly into the circle area required for the sketch. Knowing the stamped image would be a small area, it took the pressure off of needing to complete a large area and let things be simple watercolor. Adding these technique elements together made a great opportunity to have fun wit this project. Isn’t that what art is all about?

  1. Aww, this little guy is so adorable – wonderful coloring! I love your ribbon and diecut layers, too – perfect details! Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!

  2. Lovely watercoloring! Such a cute image made even cuter by the coloring! Love the CAS interpretation of our sketch and the little beehive peeking out on the edge of the circle is a sweet detail. Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
