Clean and Simple Christmas in July card

During the month of July I am excited to have been invited to be the Guest Designer at Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge. This week at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge, we are creating a clean and simple Christmas card. It’s Christmas in July! Be sure to go over to the page and check out all of the Design Team’s cards this week and if you are up to a challenge…. add a photo of your card as well!

Ink Smooching a winter sky

To create this cool and crisp winter scene, I first started out with a piece of Watercolor paper, a small section of Freezer paper with shiny side up, a stack of paper towels, a Stampin Spritzer filled with tap water and a few stamp pads. Ink Refills ( aka re-inkers) will work as well. After dripping a moderate amount of ink onto the paper, it is misted with the water and the color will dilute. The shiny side of the Freezer paper will keep the fluid in place. This is a lot of fun to watch, as it gives instant results. Be sure to allow the paper ample time to dry before adding stamped images.

Clean and Simple Christmas card

Star of Light stamp set and Starlight Thinlits dies work perfectly for many styles of cards. I have even used them in non-Christmas cards! My inspiration for this card came from my kids. They are hooked on the movie Frozen and we are seeing all sorts of snowflakes in our home during the hot summer months. The die cut I choose could perhaps be a star of a snowflake. I placed it in a setting that would allow it to be interpreted either way.

For a visual demonstration on how I created the background, check out the video demonstration link below.
