Birthday Delivery cake baker card for #GDP087

Cake Baker

This week, the Global Design Project challenge has a theme challenge. The idea is to create a card design that features a certain design combination in a card project.  To view the projects for this challenge, please visit the Global Design Project page by clicking here. I am creating a card today featuring a new product called Birthday Delivery that coordinates with Birthday Memories DSP and Birthday Friends dies. These products are available in the upcoming Annual catalog.

Birthday Delivery cake baker

Cake baker was not the first idea I had when first looking at this Suite of products. It’s funny how we as crafters can see things different with new eyes on a different day. Inspiration for this project came from the icing-scripted style sentiment and piping gun of the baker icon. Having the writing and cake baker, I needed to not have him work his magic on an empty space so I set forth to create a cake.

Chocolate Cake from die cuts

The chocolate cake image is created using three colors of card stock and one set of Square Layering Dies. The die set has both scallop and straight edge design to choose from so I chose a scallop to resemble icing in white. Next would be a chocolate layer topped off with a lighter brown for a more milk chocolaty look.  The cake baker is lined up with the tip of his piping gun at the point of an icing design as well. If you notice a shadow outline on the cake baker, that would be a plain die cut with no stamping, adhered as offset to give his image definition. No wonder I’ve been hungry for chocolate today!
