Fussy cutting your DSP using Eastern Palace with Video

Patterned paper is a great tool to use on a cardmaking project. How do you use the very bold patterns? I admit that I have a bit of difficulty in using them and often will set them aside. However, when I got a look at Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, I knew at once the design of my first project. My oldest son, Trip, loves peacocks. Stampin’ Up! shared with demonstrators that the designers of this suite of products were inspired by peacocks and I can agree with the final result. I see peacock elements, to be certain! So here is one easy way to use the super beautiful paper.

Design Details

These two sheets of paper have the same design but are in different color schemes. By using a smaller strip of the gold paper, I am able to make it appear as if there are feathers under the top layer of color. Fussy cutting around the feathers enabled the look to really show, and give added contrast between the gold and colored sections.

The sentiment is stamped with Tranquil Tide (love this new color!) to match the card base. I used a Very Vanilla card stock panel to mount these papers, as vanilla is a color on the feather paper. It looks more Vanilla when held up against a comparison of White. I added a few gold heart shapes from Metallic Enamel Shapes to lend a sparkly accent.
