Watercolor Pencils washed background with Balloon Adventures for #WWYS109

The What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog‘s theme this week is to use Balloon Adventures stamp set on a card project. Here is my project for using this stamp set. To view the challenge cards from the design team and from crafters like me and you, click here to go to the blog page.

I chose to use the balloon string stamps to get the look and feel of party streamers. I chose to heat emboss these images with both Silver and Gold embossing powder. How did I do it? I mixed a bit of each powder in a tiny bathroom cup, then sprinkled it on the sticky VersaMark ink. It kind of looks like Platinum to me, what do you think?

The background is created by scribbling lightly onto watercolor paper with Stampin’ Up!’s new Watercolor Pencils. I am finding more uses for these pencils each day! I used my water brush to then add water and moved the brush back and forth, while bringing the motion down the paper gradually. I like how the colors blend using this method. If you try this, please assure the paper is completely dry before moving forward to the embossing step.
