Tasty Trucks card for #WWYS102

By now I suspect you all have surmised that since I have two young boys, that I must craft in order to keep the crazy away. That is true, in part, LOL. I will admit there are a good deal of cartoons shown on our tv, some rather irritating. However, there is one tv show that the boys like to watch that is really cute. Wallykazam is a cartoon that makes learning to spell words a little more interesting. There also is a large amount of artwork in the program that I admire. I took inspiration for the colors in this card project from the images I see in the scenery of this show. The trees and shrubs are colors that are so vivid that they stay will me for days on end.

The What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog‘s theme this week is to use Tasty Trucks stamp set on a card project. Here is my project for using this stamp set. To view the challenge cards from the design team and from crafters like me and you, click here to go to the blog page.

The layers of this card stack up to be very sturdy. The Sahara Sand layer has been embossed with Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder. Have you tried this folder yet? It is amazing. The finished image is 3D and literally has multi layers. Seeing it in person and feeling the embossing really makes an impression for the person receiving the card.  The Tasty Truck is stamped in Early Espresso onto Thick Whisper White card stock. I also stamped some tiny cupcakes and made them appear to be growing like flowers. In Wally’s world, I imagine this would be no problem whatsoever!

The colors are calming and invigorating all at the same time. Wallykazam has peachy orange colored trees, so I borrowed the tree color from his artwork. To give a bit more scene building, I paired the Tasty Trucks stamp with Sprinkles of Life stamps and the Tree Builder Punch from the Annual Catalog. The line art looks much the same so I felt it would lend itself well to this scene. The punch makes it easy to create the tree trunks and cupcake looking tree tops. The tiny cupcakes and the truck were cut out by hand.

To color the tree tops, I used a Blender Pen with Peekaboo Peach to swirl the color. Once dried it got a generous coat of Clear Wink of Stella and several Sprinkles Embellishment sequins. The tiny cupcakes are the same peachy color with Pool Party bases. After colored, I coated them with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen for gloss and added a pearl from the same set of sequins. The truck is stamped in Early Espresso and outlined inside with Stampin Write Markers in Sahara Sand and Pool Party. I cut away the windows so the trees would show through. The sentiment is stamped right on the side of the truck.

Measurements for this project are:
Whisper White card base:  4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Regular Whisper White layer: 4 1/4″ x 4 1/8″
Sahara Sand embossed layer: 4 1/4″ x 4″
Pool Party layer: 4 1/4″ x 2 7/8″
Regular Whisper White card front: 4 1/4″ x 2 3/4″

  1. Hi Jenny ~ Really cute card. I have never heard of that cartoon, but I don’t have young ones in my life. My babies are in their 40’s and my grandchildren are over 17 and one is furry 🙂 I do have two pen pals in Maine who are 7 and 9 so I can ask them about it. I clicked on all your links to WWYS and it says the blog is not available, but it shows their side bar and heading. I went directly from my bookmark and it was all there. Not sure what is going on but just wanted to let you know.

    • Hi Karen! Funny to mention but this weekend I spoke to my son about Mom & Dad not having cartoon channels when we were his age. It was a hard concept for him to grasp! He has never had the experience of waiting until Saturday morning for cartoons, or better yet- seeing them in the theatre before a feature film. We’ve started watching Disney’s Silly Symphonies and they are liking them 🙂

I have an idea on the WWYS issue- sounds like the blog post has not been updated yet. I will make sure they know that it didn’t happen so it can be taken care of. Thank you for letting me know. Thank you for heading there though! Give it a day and all will be well. Hope the weather is nice and balmy in FL! -Jenny

    • Hi Gail! LOL, would only see them on tv, right? Or in my dreams! Cupcakes everywhere…. Thanks for stopping by 🙂 -Jenny

    • Hi Leonie! Cupcakes…. if only. Alas, my kids would eat them all up with none to spare, LOL. Thanks for stopping by 🙂 -Jenny
