Among the many types of cards I make, I seem to be making more birthday cards at the moment than any other type. This stamp set, Sunshine Sayings, offers many occasions to make a custom made card. I guess we can never have enough birthday cards 🙂
The What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog‘s theme this week is to use Sunshine Sayings stamp set on a card project. Here is my project for using this stamp set. To view the challenge cards from the design team and from crafters like me and you, click here to go to the blog page.
The card base is made with Thick Whisper White card stock. Once it is scored and folded, it measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (standard US card base). I used a layer of white card stock that is 3 7/8″ wide and 5 1/8″ wide, and this was used as a layer for a piece of Soft Sky card stock that is embossed with Sparkle Embossing folder. The embossed piece of paper is 1/8″ smaller than the white layer. For a nice balance visually, I featured the focal images in frame style design. The Stitched Shapes Framelits work great for this project. The stamping was done on watercolor paper and framed with Sahara Sand card stock.
The stamped images are made with copper embossing powder, heat set onto watercolor paper. The embossing works like a barrier to hold fluid inside it’s wall. This is very convenient when watercoloring! I used a water brush with stamp pads to color in the images. After dried I used the dies to cut away two sections to be featured on the card front. The copper is a nice companion color to the soft blue and pinks in the images.
Here is a list of supplies I used to make this card project. Links are here that you can click to get product info and purchase items as well. Thank you so much for your support with your purchase 🙂
This was a fun card to work on and I really enjoyed making this into a birthday card. Being as it is January, I can start thinking of how many birthday cards I will need to make this year. I better get cracking! Don’t forget to pop over to the What Will You Stamp Challenge to see all of the great cards. I have been asked to be a permanent member of the Design Team and am over the moon excited to work with these talented crafters to bring you more card making inspiration. Please be sure to visit on January 19th, as I will feature a GUEST STAMPER to bring you a creative project!
