Cool Treats popsicle birthday card

This week, the Global Design Project challenge card is to CASE (copy and gain inspiration from) the talented designer; Jess Williams. I admire her card design and am very happy to get to CASE her work! Please visit the Global Design Project page by clicking here

Can you see the intended similarities? I used the same color scheme and placed an image in the upper corner. The card front has the same layered design as well. I also made some changes that made the project my own creation. I added a medallion to hold the sentiment and spread sequins around it. This card works very well as a masculine birthday card and for that, I am happy!

I used a Night of Navy card base measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ after scored and folded. To decorate the card front, I used a piece of Crumb Cake card stock with some inked sprinkles to give a look of texture. On the medallion, I used white card stock with Crumb Cake ink, then cut this out with a Stitched Shape Framelit. To ground the white paper, I added another oval made from Soft Suede card stock that would easily transition the colors.

The popsicle was very easy to create. I stamped the image of the actual popsicle onto white card stock. The photopolymer stamp kind of gives a gradated look, or not so solid looking. I used Watermelon Wonder on the popsicle and Crumb Cake for the stick. The curved highlight area was made by heat embossing a mixture of silver and white embossing powders. I was going for the look of a shiny highlight and am happy that it sparkles when the light shines onto this area. I finished up the project with applying a few of the new sequins from Sprinkles Embellishments assortment. Square sequins are so cool! There also are pearls in the pack and they will work well on many projects.

I am really enjoying this stamp set. There are sever popsicles to choose from as well as ice cream cones. And the patterned paper that matches this set is too cute! A manly birthday card is always a bonus as well. Let’s make it together!
