Hey Chick Sale A Bration card for #GDP065

Today I bring you a card that was made for a challenge over at Global Design Project. The theme of this week’s challenge is a color challenge, make a card that features a certain set of colors. On my to-do list are a number of things, one of which is to make a card with a new stamp set called Hey, Chick. When I showed this stamp set to my oldest son, he said “that’s a chicken! What is that chicken doing!”. Not being able to give him a practical answer, I grabbed something logical. I told him these chickens are looking at him! After he laughed and left the room, I imagined these cluckers were actually looking out at us from frames hanging on a wall. Thus, this card idea became a new project.

I invite you all to go over to the blog and view the complete gallery of cards from the Design Team. They have done some great work! CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE SITE

For this card, I knew what stamp set and colors I needed to use. I had a design in mind as well. To make the frames, I chose to use the Stitched Shapes Framelits. They let me get the stitched look and cut nice straight lines all at one time. For texture, I used an embossing folder to give the look of shadows and light. My card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, standard US card base, made of Early Espresso and feature layers of white on white and frames with the same color combo.

I stamped the images with Early Espresso ink. The images were painted with Crumb Cake and Real Red, which gave highlights and low lights. I especially like the white areas and tone on tone effect. No sequins today, just a few rhinestones to create and compliment the visual triangle.

When I asked my loving husband if he liked this card project, he took a few minutes to answer me. He replied that these were chickens, to which I confirmed his answer. Taking another few seconds to look and think, he said he thought it was cool and smiled. BINGO! That was what I was after, that smile you get when receiving a card. I’m thinking now of photobombing cicken cards!

Thank you for visiting my blog today and checking out my latest card making project. I hope you find a simple card design and make it your own. Don’t forget to look at the Global Design Project page to see all of the fantastic projects for this challenge. Lets make it together!
