Today I bring you a card that was made for a challenge over at Global Design Project. The theme of this week’s challenge is to CASE, or gain inspiration from, a card that was made by the designer, Connie Collins Her work is fantastic! In the featured card by Connie, I was inspired by her use of florals in blue and yellow tones. I invite you all to go over to the blog and view the complete gallery of cards from the Design Team. They have done some great work! CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE SITE
For this card, I chose to work with the Falling Flowers stamp set, painted in subtle tones. I did not want a crisp look to the painted image, so I chose to paint with my ink pads and a water brush onto Bristol paper cardstock. The ink and paper combination work well together. My card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, standard US card base, made of Pacific Point and feature layers of white and pale yellow, ending with the Bristol paper on top.
I stamped the images with Soft Sky ink. This is a very pale blue that would give the “no-line” watercolor look to the finished product. I painted the flowers with Pacific Point, which covered the stamped outlines without any problem. The leaves also covered the stamped lines. I especially like how the tones are very muted in the overall effect. For the background, I used the same yellow as I used for the centers of the flowers, just adding more water to dilute the color. I finished off the card with gold enamel dots, choosing to forego the sequins this time around 🙂
Here is a list of supplies I used to make this card project. Links are here that you can click to get product info and purchase items as well. Thank you for your support with your purchase 🙂
