A great perk of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator or a Hobby Demonstrator, is being able to order new products prior to the release of the new catalog. Here is a look at one of the new stamp sets from the Occasions Catalog: Mediterranean Moments (item#143191). This stamp set has four sketched scenes that are set in a Mediterranean atmosphere. Would you like to watercolor a scene the easy way? Here’s how we can do it.
My card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, top folded and made of Pacific Point cardstock. I have layers of Whisper White that end in a piece of patterned paper from Blooms & Bliss DSP. The color tones are bold this time around. I used die cuts to give an interest toward the overall look. Scrap cardstock works really great for this project. The circles are cut using the new Stitched From the Heart Framelits. They give a finished look that is perfect for cardmaking!
If you have not yet used the MISTI stamp positioner tool, you are in for a treat! My video will show you how you can use the MISTI for watercoloring. Using this tool allows the image to be stamped over a certain spot on your paper, as many times as you need to stamp it. This means you can get a fully stamped, dark image. It also means that a particular area or a large image can be isolated and stamped on it’s own.
I first stamped the chair by coloring just the chair area with a marker. I used the water brush to move the color around and fill the area between the colored outline. I repeated this process with each area by using a corresponding marker color. This way of coloring is possible because the MISTI does not move the stamp or the paper in between colors. It stays in place inside the MISTI and the stamp stays in place on the door. It’s a perfect tool for this type of watercoloring.
The ink colors I used are: Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Sahara Sand and Soft Suede.

Feel free to email me a pic and I will feature it here online 🙂 In the meantime, I hope you find a simple card design and make it your own. Lets make it together!
