Fall Rose in watercolor smooching with Video

Hello Crafters! Have you been using the watercolor smooching technique? Good! Let’s step it up a bit in this card and use that technique again but add heat embossing to the project. Fall color is exploding everywhere here in South Jersey, so I decided to capture a bit of it in this card project.

I started out with watercolor paper and used the smooching technique using Tangerine Tango and Peekaboo Peach for the flowers. These colors are in the same family, one a darker shade, and will work well for this technique. For the leaves I chose Garden Green and Old Olive. I knew that as soon as this orange and green color combo started to mix, it would make brown so for a card base I chose Chocolate Chip card stock. Gold accents were a natural for this card and the gold foil paper is a great combination.

This card measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, standard US card size. The gold foil paper is cut 1/4″ smaller than the card base and the layers progress inward at a decreasing size of 1/8″ per layer. I really like working in 8ths because it gives a nice thin framed look to my project. However, I do not like doing the math 🙂   I am working with the Rose Wonder stamp set. Once the paper was dried, I stamped the image in Versamark sticky ink and applied gold embossing powder. This was heat set with a heat tool and the result is a gold embossed rose.

JOIN THE SWAP!!

As Demonstrators prepare for OnStage in November, we will all be busily making “swap” cards. For those unable to go to OnStage, they do not get to experience the swap on a large scale. If you would like to participate in an “Across the Miles Swap”, please contact me to sign up. Here is how it will work: You will need to sign up to participate by November 15th. Once we close off the sign up date, I will contact you to let you know how many cards to make for swap. You will get back as many as you send in. If you want to swap one card, then sign up to send in one card. If you want to swap with all particiants, I will let you know how many to make and that’s how many you will send in and get back. This is a great way to share your work with others and to see what everyone else is doing. I do not anticipate this swap to go too big but if it does then I will break us into groups so as not to have everyone make a ton of cards. Are you ready to join the swap? You have until Nov 15th to sign up. Let’s make it together!    (open to demos and non-demos)
