A most enduring image is that of a single tree, branches spread wide and open. There is a feeling of comfort that is evoked with this image. It’s also a versatile tool to set up the mood. In today’s card, I wanted to set the change of season while not letting go of today.
To give a little bit of interest to this iconic image, I cut a hole in my image. Egads! you say? I was after classic and contemporary all at once. The “framed” portion of the tree image was created by using a die from Layering Squares to make the initial cut and then the next size larger for the frame. Not hard at all, not even hard to get it back in to the right space.
I used markers to place color directly on the stamp with the leaf images and then muddled it a bit with my waterbrush. Any paintbrush with a little bit of water should give you the same effect. I finished the card up with a length or twine and thread.
Here is a list of supplies I used in making my card:
Thanks for coming to view my card today. Try taking an old idea and making it new with a spin all of your own. I’m glad we could make this one together.
