Detailed Floral Thinlits with Ombre Effect for Global Design Project #GDP053

Color fade, or ombre effect, is a striking look on a card. When paired with a die cut that allows the colors to shine forth, then that is a winning combination. This week over at the Global Design Project, there is a Color Challenge. To participate in a challenge, the crafter is tasked to make a card that meets the challenge requirements. Β In a color challenge, I must use the specific colors and not venture too far off the path. Adding basic colors will almost always be needed but the challenge colors should be foremost visible.

The colors chosen this week are very bold colors. I set off to figure out how I could translate these colors into a card that I would be happy to send to a loved one. Using a sponge dauber on vanilla cardstock, I went from dark to eventually light with the Watermelon Wonder ink. When the paper was completely colored, I layered it under a die cut and mounted this onto the navy card base.

I added the gold embossed sentiment and gold die cut hearts to carry the gold color over the card. I used a die from Everyday Jars Framelits of a row of hearts. I ran this in the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine with gold foil paper and spread them evenly on the card.

Here is a list of supplies I used to make this card:

Thanks for viewing my card today. If you have not done so yet, please hop over to the Global Design Project page and check out all of the cards made using these bold colors. I am thrilled to see what all of you crafters come up with!

Let’s make it together πŸ™‚
