the week in review

Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Are you ready to see more progress on the Studio? With most of the the furniture in place, I have moved in at last. Work in my new space has taken some getting used to but I’m loving it. I have added a few more items and will list product names where available, for your reference. Some of the info below is an update to a product mentioned before, to show how it is being used.

The best part about building a craft space from the bottom up for me is having the ability to coordinate colors. Most affordable storage units and furniture have an option for white and then something more colorful. Because I want it all to coordinate and have pops of color here and there, I chose to furnish in white.

Ribbon Ladder & Clock

The clock (from target.com) is installed and is making a wonderfully soft ticking sound. I am not bothered by clock ticking, I have a beautiful cuckoo clock that sounds off every half hour. The Ribbon Ladder that I purchased from JoAnn.com is now updated to hold only current products. My reasoning for installing this unit is that if I see the ribbon, I will use the ribbon, lol. It’s a little bit sparce at the moment but will fill out nicely when the new 2018 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog is active on June 1st. Have you checked out the gorgeous ribbons in the catalog yet?

Ink/Stamp pad Storage

If you remember the small storage unit I mentioned last week (purchased from Michaels.com) I have installed my Stampin’ Blends markers and miscellaneous stamp pads and pens. On top of the unit are the brand new Stampin’ Up! stamp pads in the wonderful new colors. I have not decided how to store them so they are stacked in an easy to see manner. I plan to add another Kallax unit to my work surface and am thinking to install the stamp pad organizer from Stampin Storage.

In front of the unit are the new ink refill bottle in all the new colors to match the new stamp pads. This easy to handle wire basket was part of a multipack  of wire racks from my local Dollar Tree a few years ago. These baskets work great to store ribbon as well!

Lighting

This floor lamp was a much needed last minute addition. The overhead light attached to the ceiling fan in my Studio does not work and hubby can not get it work at all. Rather than replace the light kit, I opted for a very economic floor lamp that will bounce the bright light off the white ceiling and walls. It works very well. In fact, it works very, very well, lol.

Here is the model I purchased from my local WalMart and if I remember correctly, it was around $13.oo (not including bulbs). The main light takes up to a 150 watt bulb, which I have in the lamp. It is BRIGHT! It also works great for giving me the much needed light in the entire small room. The small reading light is also handy. I placed a 60 watt bulb in the small lamp.

Storage Unit Organization

Last week I shared info about the Kallax units I am using, from IKEA, along with the Drona cubes (with the floral pattern) for enclosed storage. Being as IKEA does not currently carry a white storage cube, I opted for an economically priced alternative. I purchased these basic white cubes from Amazon.com for $23.00 for 4 cubes. I needed 8 cubes and this was a fantastic price (free shipping as well). Here is the ordering info:

EZOWare Set of 4 Foldable Fabric Basket Bin, Collapsible Storage Cube for Nursery Home and Office – White (13 x 15 x 13 inches)

Now the kids are not able to walk in while I am working and get to they should they should not touch. This was a key factor in me moving my space to a closed room and knowing they will not get injured was worth the cost of the storage cubes.

Also from Amazon.com is this wonderful little organizer made by InterDesign. The cost was just under $12.oo and was shipped free because I ordered it with the storage cubes. (yay!!)  On this container are the items I keep on my video table and use exclusively for filming. I like to keep them close to hand and easy to see while making my projects. I have duplicate items on my everyday work surface so having these in both places helps me to keep everything nice and tidy. I always clean up after every project I create and this organizer is key. The view from my video table, overlooking the front of my home and this beautiful rose bush. I planted it the year before Trip was born so it;s a good 7 years old now. Not sure of the name of the plant but it is a rose from David Weeks. His are my absolute favorite plants, the fragrance and hardiness is hands down the best.

My youngest son had a major birthday this weekend! Nate turned 5 years old. Here he is, with a fresh hair cut and a lollipop reward 🙂 His cake was by request, a train cake. I got a nice photo with him before it literally fell apart!

After the busy weekend, he fell asleep early on my bed right after his shower. I love this photo of him!
